No, we do not use a “piercing gun”. Professional piercers use a piercing needle to make a clean incision which is easier for the body to heal. A gun uses a blunt end and forces it through the skin causing excess trauma, ripping, and can leave scarring. It also leaves the skin tissue in place and forces it through the piercing channel. This can lead to excess discomfort and a poor healing process. Guns do not factor in the swelling that comes along with any new piercing. This could lead to the jewelry embedding into the swollen skin. Guns are not able to be sterilized in a medical grade autoclave as they are made out of porous material. This leaves bacteria and blood borne pathogens trapped for any client who is pierced by that gun.
A piercing needle causes the least amount of damage allowing the piercing channel to properly heal by removing the excess skin tissue for the new jewelry. We size the jewelry based on each clients individual anatomy and factor in swelling for the best possible heal.
