TATTOO FAQ

  • Most of the time it’s more of an annoying feeling.  But certain parts of the body more than others. (ie. ribs, chest, inner arm).  Then there are some people who don't mind at all and can fall asleep through it.

  • We are a custom tattoo studio. All things are considered in pricing. Location, color, time, detail, and size. Schedule a consultation so your artist can review all your ideas and book your appointment.

  • Nope! Texas law states you have to be 18 to get a tattoo regardless of parental consent.

  • Yes, We accept all major credit cards as well as Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, Apple Pay, and Paypal.

  • No, while it sounds like a good idea - shaving can cause razor burn. If the area has razor burn, ingrown hairs, etc we will not be able to tattoo. Always let your artist clean the area and shave before applying the stencil.

  • So you’re ready for a new tattoo? Great news! Now it’s time to do your research. What style of tattoo are you looking to get? Is it realism, watercolor, black and grey or color, traditional, neo traditional, new school, Japanese? Once you have the answer to this question you can begin searching for an artist whose work matches the style you are looking for. Review portfolios and be sure that they are capable of producing the quality you are searching for. Finding the right artist for the job is key to being satisfied with your tattoo forever. Once you have found the right artist for the job – set up a consultation. Bring in any reference materials to show them so they can clearly see what you are looking for. Be prepared to leave a design fee for the artwork. Most artists will not work without a design fee to be sure that their time is not wasted if you never return to get the tattoo. Find out what payment methods your artist accepts. This way you aren’t forced to leave the shop to find an ATM if they only accept cash. Once everything is set in stone and the day of your tattoo arrives be prepared. Take a shower! Getting a tattoo is an up close and personal experience. Eat a good meal before your session. Do not drink alcohol. Once the stencil is placed on your skin, check the spelling if any and placement. Now it’s time to sit back and relax. Trust your artist – you chose them for this tattoo! It is crucial that you remain as still as possible during the session. The best possible scenario is to bring headphones and listen to music that allows you to relax and get into the “zone”. The artist will be putting their entire focus into giving you the best possible tattoo they can but this requires your full focus as well. Once your new tattoo is complete, tip your artist! Most artists have to pay a percentage of the tattoo price to the shop. Now that the session is over its your responsibility to properly take care of the tattoo. Your artist should provide you with instructions on how to do this. It is crucial to take care of it properly and follow their instructions to ensure the best healing possible. This is, after all, going to be on your body forever! After the tattoo is fully healed (30 days) and you are ready to get some sun, don’t forget to use sunscreen! I recommend using SPF 50 to be sure to get the longest life out of your ink. The sun tends to fade tattoos very fast (as well as age our skin)! Thanks for reading ~ and happy tattooing! -Mo

PIERCING FAQs

  • Yes! However, we do have shop policies regarding age restrictions and requirements. This is to prevent potential scarring or other damage from occurring.

To provide any piercing services for a minor, we will need three documents:

    * A valid government-issued document that shows the minor’s date of birth (such as the original birth certificate or a certified copy) and name of the parent or legal guardian

    * A valid photo ID for the minor (such as a school ID, passport, learner’s permit, or state ID)

    * A valid photo ID (driver’s license or state ID only) belonging to the parent or legal guardian of the minor

All documents must be state or government issued, and must be presented in physical form. No screenshots, photographs, digital copies, or non-certified photocopies will be accepted.

If the parent or legal guardian cannot or does not wish to remain present with their minor throughout the entire piercing process, a notarized letter of consent must be provided with the signature of the parent or legal guardian in addition to the above documentation. We do have a notary available on-site for our clients’ convenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to give us a call or drop by to talk to us!

  • Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. We have heard “Oh, That was it?” to “That didn’t hurt like I though it would.” Others mention it feels like a pinch, but it all really depends on the location and the person.

  • Healing times will vary depending on the type of piercing. If you follow proper aftercare instructions your piercing will heal in the least amount of time without complications.

  • It is mandatory that you wash your hands prior to cleaning your piercing. You will clean the piercing twice a day and after showers with sterile saline solution. We recommend NeilMed Piercing Aftercare which is available for purchase in our studio. Your piercer will provide detailed written instructions to take care of your piercing.

  • No! Please do not touch or twist your jewelry while it is in the healing process. The only exception to touching is when cleaning with freshly washed hands. Piercings heal from the outside - in. Twisting it could delay the healing process and cause irritation. When you twist the jewelry it rips the protective scab or crust prolonging the swelling and healing process. You also risk transferring bacteria into the piercing which could result in an infection.

  • Infections are more rare than irritation caused by the questions listed below. Infections are characterized by secretion of yellow or green discharge and redness. Do not be alarmed if this happens! Contact your piercer and they will be able to help you heal the piercing correctly.

    Things we consider:

Is it being cleaned properly and with the right product?

    Are you sleeping on it?

Is it pierced at the incorrect angle for your anatomy?

Is the type of metal the jewelry made of compatible with your body?

Is the size of the jewelry long enough for swelling?

Is the style of the jewelry correct for the location of the piercing?

  • Unfortunately, we do not pierce with outside jewelry as we cannot guarantee that the quality of that jewelry is safe for your new piercing. Poor-quality jewelry cannot be sterilized in our autoclave prior to your piercing, which is a vital and mandatory safety requirement for new piercings. Attempting to sterilize such jewelry may even cause the metal or its coatings/plating to break down, either immediately or during the healing process. Using low-quality or non-sterile jewelry is one of many factors which increase the likelihood of improper healing, irritation, infection, migration, or rejection of your new piercing.

We carry only the highest quality, biocompatible jewelry in our studio. We pierce with only high polished, implant grade Titanium (Ti-6AL-4V-ELI ASTM F136), and solid 14k, 18k, and 24k White, Yellow, and Rose Gold.

  • No, we do not use a “piercing gun”. Professional piercers use a piercing needle to make a clean incision which is easier for the body to heal. A gun uses a blunt end and forces it through the skin causing excess trauma, ripping, and can leave scarring. It also leaves the skin tissue in place and forces it through the piercing channel. This can lead to excess discomfort and a poor healing process. Guns do not factor in the swelling that comes along with any new piercing. This could lead to the jewelry embedding into the swollen skin. Guns are not able to be sterilized in a medical grade autoclave as they are made out of porous material. This leaves bacteria and blood borne pathogens trapped for any client who is pierced by that gun.

A piercing needle causes the least amount of damage allowing the piercing channel to properly heal by removing the excess skin tissue for the new jewelry. We size the jewelry based on each clients individual anatomy and factor in swelling for the best possible heal.

**Research your piercer! Keep in mind that years of experience does not equal knowledge if they have been practicing the wrong techniques.**
