TATTOO AFTERCARE
For Seran wrapped tattoos only (not Saniderm Bandages)
Do not leave wrap on more than 2 hours
Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo.
In the shower let water run over the tattoo instead of directly spraying onto it. Lightly wash the tattooed area with antibacterial soap and rinse gently. Only wash with fingertips, do not use a washcloth. Let the tattoo air dry then apply the thinnest amount of ointment possible. Once the tattoo begins to peel, you will want to apply the ointment very carefully with small dabbing motions rather than rubbing the tattoo.
Vitalitree can be used 2-4 times spaced out evenly throughout the day
Aquaphor apply: NO more than 2 times a day, at least 5 hours apart. Over use of petroleum based products can lead to clogged pores and small pimples over the tattoo area. Be cautious and apply very sparingly.
Itching begins anywhere between 6-10 days. Although it’s going to be very tempting to pick at the peeling skin, DO NOT pull any off. Continue to apply ointment daily, this will reduce itching and help healing.
It is imperative to the correct healing of your new tattoo that you do not pick or rub off any peeling skin before it is ready to fall off. Premature peeling can cause ink to fall out or leave scar tissue.
Once the peeling is done you can switch to any non-scented lotion. Depending on the natural dryness of your skin you may need more or less moisture at this stage. Use your best judgement. If any peeling remains, allow it to stay as long as possible to retain ink.
After the tattoo is done peeling and your skin returns to normal, apply lotion once a day. This will brighten up the new tattoo and extend the life of the color.
PRECAUTIONS
Don't let anyone else touch your tattoo.
No soaking tattoo in a bath, hot tub, pools, lakes, or any body of water for 3 weeks (normal shower is fine). The tattoo must not be submerged or soaked for long periods of time in any water.
For atleast two weeks following the procedure minimize exposure to the sun, excessive sun exposure can lead to blistering and be detrimental to the healing of the tattoo
Use sterile bandage or dressing when necessary.
Avoid exercise for 24 hours. Exercise can cause friction and that movement may slow the healing or not allow it to heal properly. Listen to your body during the healing process, if it hurts - don't do it.
Don’t wear jewelry, tight clothing, or anything that might rub against your tattoo while it heals.
If you have pets or children at home be cautious of them jumping or scratching the tattoo. This could pull out ink and leave a scar.
Don't shave the area for at least a few weeks after getting a new tattoo. Trying to shave within this timeframe will probably cause you to shave right through a scab or a patch of peeling skin.
Failure to follow after care instructions may result in pigment loss, discoloration, or infection.
